Tianjin is an influential, dynamic, constantly developing site for the study of ancient and contemporary urbanism, as it a model of cultural activity and an impressive locus for new architecture, landscape architecture and urbanism. Examples of public space and architecture from antiquity to the 21st century will be studied in the context of a city which seeks to project its future in dialogue with engaging its past and present.
In the past long time, by putting great stress on disciplinary construction, 3 first-level disciplines are authorized to confer Master’s Degree, 2 of them have been approved as Tianjin Key Disciplines, which are Architecture, Urban & Rural Planning.
Right now, the school has been immersed in several innovative research fields: architecture history, architecture design, heritage conservation, green building, ecological city, urban design, landscape design and art design, etc. At the meanwhile, we established three research institutions, namely, Tianjin Green Building Collaborative Innovation Center, Tianjin Green Building Technology Innovation Alliance, Tianjin Urbanization and Rural Construction Research Center.
By focusing on the great needs of regional economic and social development and engaging in the cutting-edge technological research in the field of urbanization and urban development, we have been fundedmorethan 50 million RMB and hosted more than 50 national or provincial research projects, which have been widely applied to several projects, such as Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-city, Tianjin Old City Conservation and Preservation, and Tianjin small-town constructions, etc.
